Utah, especially southern Utah, is a very foreign place to me; I grew up in the northwest close to Seattle. When I went to St. George for the weekend with the BYU Men's Chorus, I found that being in a new environment gave me a chance to step back from the world I live in, with a fresh perspective on the relationship that man has with nature. Posted are five photos from that short weekend excursion.

The symmetry photo is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThere are some nice shots in here! I've noticed that your photographs have improved over the semester. Not only do these photos LOOK good, but they have some substance to them that make me think.
ReplyDeleteThe geometry of your photos is beautiful. Clear, clean, crisp-very well done. I think stylistically the black and white was a really great choice. The last picture forces me to contemplate me place in the world. I like it.
ReplyDeleteThese are all really strong photos. I like the concept, too. It takes a while to get used to Utah's landscape, but it can be beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white, high contrast. The lines in combination with the color made these photos for me. The last photo is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI like that all of your photos have a more gray tone rather than high contrast black and white. I think it creates consistency throughout your essay.
ReplyDeletei love the symmetry photo and the last photo. great idea to use black and white as well. i like your idea.
ReplyDeleteThe last photo is also my favorite because it's contemplative and interesting
ReplyDeleteI really like the ambiguity of the title for the last photo, all the others are so literal, and that makes this one really stand out, but in a way that complements the essay. it suggests a certain way to read the rest of the photos, even though they only have a literal title.
ReplyDeleteI love the 3rd and the 5th ones, especially the 5th, it was composed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI like this theme alright. Photo one is best. It has good lines, perspective and the black and white with 55mph sign takes you back in time and makes it feel older.
