Brassai: Provo de Nuit

So Provo might not have the shady nightlife and criminal scene such as portrayed in Brassai's Paris, but I've got two words for you: Rape Hill. That's right; if that place does not invoke pure terror in the hearts of every BYU student, I don't know what will (okay, okay, so we all are aware by now that a rape has never actually occurred on Rape Hill, but for the purposes of trying to promote the 'seedy' side of BYU, we are going to cast that small detail aside). Here, my friends, is a darker view of the place you thought you knew by day - under the shroud of night, shadows and trees tangle together in nightmarish forms and the clandestine side of Provo is revealed.

  1. I love the concept, and appreciate your originality. You definitely portrayed a rather dark mood.

  2. i really picture 2 with the lights shining through the trees. i also really like picture 5 with the man concentrating on the little glow of his cell phone.

  3. definitely captured the feel of rape hill at night, even if the rumors do seem to point to it being a rather harmless place...

  6. they look exactly like Brassai photos. Well done! The second one is my favorite. It kind of reminds me of an alien film

  7. I think this is my favorite project this round. Great concept, great execution. And somehow kind of funny to me as well, given the comparison with Brassai.
