Provo is a unique collision of cultures. Students come from all over the country, and even many of the natives have spent formative years abroad. The traditional pioneer heritage, "firm as the mountains around us," is often spiced up by touches of international culture, if you pause to notice it. From Many Lands to Bombay House, to the Hookah bar, people in Provo are always interested in "l'étrange," perhaps in escape of the otherwise relative banality of the town. This distinctive combination can be seen in the uncommon and sometimes idiosyncratic architecture that peppers the downtown Provo residential area.
I love all of these houses and your pictures do them credit. I think the third one is my favorite because of the sharp colors.

ReplyDeleteWay to take the mundane, Provo, and find the unique and interesting in it. The horizon is off on a couple of the photos. Overall it is well done. Maybe you could play with some of the colors and things in photoshop.
