New Topographics

Treescape

"Trees are often the center of controversy between downtown business owners and those promoting Main Street revitalization efforts. Shade trees, brick pavers, and period benches and lightposts, all designed to make the streetscape more pedestrian-friendly, are common upgrades for old commercial areas trying to make a comeback. But business owners tend to dislike the trees once they start to fill out; business people feel that the trees block their signs and obscure their businesses."

  4. I found it far more fascinating after hearing your explanation in class. If your introduction covered some of those same ideas, then I think it would be easier for the viewer to "get it." Good angles and theme.

  5. I think that the concept made more sense after your explanation in class. I do like the idea of focusing on trees and once I knew that that was what I should look for, the pictures made more sense.

  6. i love your first shot. the lines; the shoe; the leaves on the grass. it's beautiful and you definitely capture well the point where man (or woman) and nature meet.

  8. I wouldn't have made this connection in landscape planning. This make the photography meaningful in perhaps one of the noblest ways, because you have quite literally shown me another way to look at it. The trees and cars photo is amazing for that reason.
