DVA, Lucy Millward

For my project I decided to focus on majors, rather than jobs. I work for the Department of Visual Arts, so I am constantly around art majors. I thought it might be interesting to photograph different majors and see if I could see a connection between their major and how they look and dress. I think that people definitely identify with their work or major and even dress the part sometimes. This is more evident in some of the photos then others.

  2. The captions were perfect.
I can feel each person's style.

  3. I love what you have captured. I think that you have well defined a stereo-type that art majors and much better dressers than others. Their major, and way of dressing and even stance says so much about them. Fantastic.

  4. Really clean-looking photos. Clear concept. I like how much personality you can get out of such a simple shot. Its like playing Ispy.

  5. This is succinct and to-the-point. The simplicity and straight-forwardness make this essay. I aspire one day to take photos like this! Nice work.

  6. This essay was great because it was fun to try and classify each person before I read the caption. I like how not only their clothes but their body language do a lot to classify them.

  7. Incredibly professional looking. Very expressive even though they weren't candid which was surprising. You would be a great fashion photographer.

  8. I loved to see how so many of the majors correlated with the clothes. And the facial expressions and body language you captured is incredible- not candid but candid at the same time.

  9. Obviously, very well composed and presented. I don't mind the subject are pulled from their environment, but they are just people to me. There is nothing that tells me about them or their trade. It's just people and the clothes they have on. I just glanced through them at first, there was nothing to pull me into the photos. They need the tools of their trade, or something they were working on/with maybe.

  10. I really liked this post because it was pretty cool to see how the way each person dresses kind of represents their major. Of course it's a general classification but style does represent ones interests. Great idea. And I really like the simplicity of it as well.
