Jeff Prows - Hands

Work implies action. At the heart of nearly every action are hands. I have captured hands to convey the essence of a persons work. In every case, the hands are essential to the job. Even the type of hands; the look of the hands, in addition to the action in which they are employed, tell us something about the person and the task.

Nice concept. I especially like of the shot of Brian (ice cream) because you got up really close, so that his hands are the undeniable subject of the photograph.

The idea of hands was a good one but it is a little confusing as to what is going on. Your text takes away from what you are going for

Wow, you've got a great camera (better than mine at least), good Photoshop chops, and a nice sense for perspective. I love the colors in the first and last photos; the rich browns and blacks and the bright oranges and yellows. I also love the contrast and the text in the second picture. But the essay as a whole feels fractured because the styles are so different, and in some the subjects aren't very interesting (a hand grabbing a t-shirt)

Hands do say a lot about a person... But one of these hands say that the person likes white cotton. It doesn't seem to say much about work or jobs.

The angle of the photos here make your photos - I understood your blurb on the first photo before we discussed it in class...and I thought it was hilarious - I guess it just depends on the observer's perspective.

I love the concept. Really different from everyone's which is great. I love the "gettin her nails did" quote.

Photos 1 4 and 8 really grabbed me. I loved the unique perpective in the ideas and how well it was carried over into the photos. Great job!
