Jacob Johnson - Form and Content

In my last project, I tried to present man-made objects from a strictly aesthetic view, hoping to render the images so abstract as to be nearly unrecognizable. I decided for this project to follow that same idea, but to focus on people. I wanted to create photos of people that depicted only their form and that would portray their bodies as objects. The people I chose to photograph are some of my closest friends. In this way, the decontextualized photographs mirror my inability to completely comprehend any other individual, even those I'm closest with. Though I can discern their form, their content will never be fully discernable.

  2. Creepy, dare I say uncanny?! I like the lighting and the non-normal viewing angles that you've employed here.

  3. Freaky eyes! And brilliant photos.

I was amazed how before I read the intro, I thought the first photo was of fireworks. The only comment I'd make is that the two shots from above the scruffy guy's right eye could have been separated, or perhaps you could have used only one of the two.
